Title: "Standard" concentration of dilute hydrochloric acid
Post by: Pathfinder on May 26, 2009, 05:40:35 AM

In many sources it is written for example “extract with dilute hydrochloric acid” without stating the concentration of “dilute hydrochloric acid”.
So I am wondering if there is widespread concentration, for example 1 N for dilute hydrochloric acid?

It means 5N HCl. In fact, all dilute acids are 5N solutions.

Strange. I have two bottles of diluted acid about two meters from here. One is about 1M, the other about 0.1M. Neither is 5M (nor 5N).

1M sounds pretty standard in our lab :)
