Title: Effect of ionic strength in solution on the rate constant
Post by: armin91 on February 08, 2011, 01:27:50 AM
Q:What would be the effect on the rate constant of iodine persulfate reaction if the ionic strength of the solution was decreased?

I'm working on this reaction to be more specific and i am interested because i am writing a lab report

 Iodine is generated:
2I−(aq) + S2O82−(aq) → I2 (aq) + 2SO42−(aq)
And is then removed:
I2 (aq) + 2S2O32−(aq) → 2I−(aq) + S4O62−(aq)

i would appreciate any answer or reference that may help me uderstand how to approach this question. so far i checked many webpages but i cant fid any diarect relationship between two except that the ionic strength effects the reaction rate. im interested 'how'.  ???
 ??? ??? thank you
