Title: Am I just supposed to know what a Titanate is? (Amongst other -ate/ite endings)

I came across a Barium Titanate. And Since I didn't know what a Titante was, I just assumed it was like Chromate with 4 Oxygens.. Unfortunately, it had 3 >=(

So any tips on remembering the molecules and whatever pattern they may have?
