1. How is volume related to the number of molecules in a gas?
2. Which explosive compound does the reaction between ammonia and excess chlorine produce?
Attempt - Nitrogen tri-chloride (is it explosive?)
3. In Aluminum's metallurgy(Using Bauxite as ore) does NaOH participate as flux?
4. How is the discharge of neutral atoms related to the concentration of its ion in the electrolyte during electrolysis?

1. Well, we all know that pV=nRT. Hence V=nRT/p
'n' represents the number of moles of the gas
p is the pressure
R is the molar gas constant
T is the temperature.
But number of molecules(N) =n*NA
NA=avogadro constant
thus V=(N/NA)RT/p

2. Ammonia and excess chlorine react to produce nitrogen trichloride
NH3+3Cl2--->NCl3+3HCl
NCl3 is an explosive liquid.
3.NaOH does not participate as flux. The Crude bauxite is dissolved in a concentrated solution of NaOH to separate the Al3+ from impurities
Al2O3+2NaOH+3H2O--->2NaAl(OH)4

4. The main factor that determines the discharge of ions during electrolysis is the position of the ions in the electrochemical series. The factor of concentration is important only if the ions are located very close to each other in the series. In such cases, the ion in higher concentration is usually discharged preferentially

in the 3rd one, i was asking whether due to NaOH's effect on the amphoteric bauxite, (separation of non-amphoteric impurities) be regarded as a activity of a flux?
