Title: Chemicalforums Incentive Program
Post by: Mitch on November 06, 2005, 06:27:56 AM
If you get one website to link to us we will give you the special tag of your choice underneath your name. Currently I have "Nuclear Chemist" under mine and in the past only Admins could have tags underneath their names.

The website that you get to refer to us can be of any type. It can be your blog, your teachers website, your personal website about surfing dogs. Remember you need to get them to add our website to their site, that is the whole point.

To get the tag, simply provide a link to that website in this thread and the special tag you want. Please have the link pointing to http://www.chemicalforums.com

As a little addendum here, the Admin Staff here WILL review your title submissions and make sure they are appropriate.  We are a professional forum here and we will not have people going around with the title of 'Penile Python Pontificator', or something to that effect.  So please try to keep your title's civil and mature.   ;D

I'll take 'Mole Herder' as my title.

I've had a link on the University of Waterloo Chemistry Club website for some time, among our 'Useful links'...but if I can get compensation, that's awesome :D haha

http://www.science.uwaterloo.ca/student/studentclubs/chemclub/links.html (http://www.science.uwaterloo.ca/student/studentclubs/chemclub/links.html)

and for good measure I stuck one on my MSN Spaces Page:

A title, eh...how about 'Analytical Gangsta'

Thanks!

Rayan, you have to get a website to link to us, not post a site that already links to us. Murov's website has linked to us for some time now.

When you get a chance can you change the link on your blog from http://chemicalforums.com to http://www.chemicalforums.com . I know it may seem silly, but it is rather important for the search engines to see the www.

The link can be found at http://www.glue.umd.edu/~ahussey/UsefulLinks.html (http://www.glue.umd.edu/~ahussey/UsefulLinks.html) under Chemistry.  I don't forsee too many hits because I'm using the domain for posting lab information/resources.  On that note, "DNA Analyst" sounds like a decent title for the time being.

Does google or other search engines 'see' a website that forwards automatically to chemicalforums?
eg. would www. williamcornforth.com, www. williamcornforth.co.uk, www. willcornforth.com, www. willcornforth.co.uk count?

As of now listing these links here (even if they forward back to chemicalforums) is beneficiary only for you. As log as there is no content and no anchor texts, forwards doesn't help cheicalforums. Besides, for SE site that just forwards doesn't exist. SEs feed on content, not on headers.

I can't decide whether I should edit your post to remove url tags or not.

Edit: looks like I can't force forums to NOT add url tags even in my own post :( All I can do is to add space after www.

Do what you want to my post lol! (I didn't put the normal url tag on the websites- it did it automatically).
It isn't even beneficiary for me! I'm just holding/reserving those websites for myself and I've had them forwarding to this website for a while (because thats the only 'free' thing you can do with them)- I couldn't think of anything else to forward them to.
I'll try and put some content on the websites then I'll post again on this thread.
Sorry if the question seemed kinda stupid- I just have absolutely no idea how SEs work :(. Now I have a better idea of how they work, thank you ;).

I know, sometimes it is just overenthusiastic ;)

It is, even if you don't know about it. Every link to your site counts making content easier to be indexed and pushing it higher in the search results.

Try to install something like WordPress on the selected domain and forward other domains to it (don't display the same content on all domains - avoid duplicate content) - it will help you get started with creating your own site.

I finally got some free web host thing that'll hopefully work with SEs!
The websites that work are:
www. willcornforth.com and www. williamcornforth.com (with spaces between www. and actual address!)
Hopefully these will count!? Will I need to make them more different?! Any advice on how I should change them?
If they do count, then I'll try and get my ".co.uk" ones to work (they'll take a little longer).
If all is well I'll post again with a tag I want for underneath my name, which I haven't thought of yet.

(I know as my main website that is quite wierd! I'll probably change it in the future and I'll edit this post and add the URL of where the link to chemicalforums is.)

Thanks.

Will17: That's why you are a shocker now..

lol thanks geodome! ;D (I checked out "shocker" on google (define:shocker) and I never realised it was such a negative term, esp. in Australia- I hope mike doesn't see that name!). If I had the choice, I probably would've chosen "Organic Dude" or something along those lines... Also, how do you get the blue beakers instead of the stars?

After my A-Levels I will learn HTML script stuff and make a proper website, but for now the chemical forums thing will do.

If you're surprised by the .com websites- check out www. williamcornforth.co.uk!!!

It's a pretty nice website with very useful information. Thumb up, will!

Thanks Albert ;)! Thats exactly what I thought; what more does one need to know than www.chemicalforums.com!?

(But I guess having a whole website dedicated to a link is slighly crazy, its better being a link than doing nothing though!)

Here is the e-mail from Tom Jupille:

Thanks for the suggestion; I can see this as being one of my regular "productivity killers" ;) !

I was wondering if you would add www.chemicalforums.com
<http://www.chemicalforums.com/>  to the links on your website. Chemical forums is a site that has multiple sub-forums for answering all kinds of questions. They have a huge reference section.  So I was wondering if you would link to it.  I have noticed you have a number of very useful/productive links on your site.  I would like to recommend Chemical Forums as an additional useful link.

I am often on www.sepsci.com <http://www.sepsci.com/> (I learn a lot about chromatography there and it helps me progress in my position with Dionex)

I also spend quite a bit of time at  www.chemicalforums.com
http://www.chemicalforums.com/> and think you would be good resources.  There are a lot of HPLC, GC, and IC questions posed on www.chemicalforums.com <http://www.chemicalforums.com/>. I think it
would be nice to see both sites linked.

So I was wondering if you would consider adding www.chemicalforums.com to your Message Boards and on-line discussion groups.

Regards,

ScreenShot ATTACHED

Since I alreay have Physical Inorganic Chemist under my name....and my area is Computational Quantum in the Physical/Inorganic Division...just put FullMetal Quantum Chemist (that would be it-the perfect description) ...I would say that about sums it up!!!!!  If I tried to put all those words together...LOL....I do not think there  is really one word that sums all that up better!!!

I am so glad this liason happened....I think both sites will benefit from the link/exposure.

Oh my sorry about that. I didnt want that title but i ended up typing it cause i was thinking of something else at the same time. I would like the title 'Inorganic Chemist' because i think im better in it than organic chemistry, though i cant be compared to almost all of you guys here since ive not even gotten into university yet. But thats my aim. To become an inorganic chemist.

Darren:, try to realize that with the custom title, you will not be a theoretical chemist or an inorganic chemist, but instead, on this board, the theoretical chemist or the inorganic chemist.  So instead, try for something funny or unique, like Chemist, theoretically, since you're still learning to become one.  Or you know, some better title, that is actually clever and funny -- that one of mine is pretty lame.
