Title: Growing copper sulphate crystals

Hi my name is Joel, I have recently grown some really nice copper sulphate crystals on a rock, when the solution had all evaporated I put the rock with the crystals on back into a fresh solution and the crystals grew even bigger. I then did this again and all of the crystals have disintegrated/gone! Why is this? I made sure the solution had cooled before putting the rock into it. Could it be because Ii didn't fully saturate the water with enough crystal powder and therefore it has used the crystals on the rock to do so?

Any help would be great so I don't make this mistake again,

Your explanation sounds reasonable.  I would try again using a saturated solution.
