Title: Need Beta Glucan Extraction Help
Post by: Jdevault@gpalab.com on October 24, 2017, 03:15:07 PM
I am trying to find a way to extract Beta Glucan from grains such that the viscosity is low enough to allow running on HPLC.  If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated!

Hey

I say use oat bran and do it through enzymatic process. To avoid viscosity perhaps some kind of digestive enzyme? I think alpha amylase will play an important role, maybe lipase to improve solubility? Some form of protease might help?

Good luck man!
