Title: longest chemical synthesis used for commercial drug
Post by: kriggy on February 07, 2019, 10:08:37 AM
Hello,

Im having a presentation about Novartis synthesis of discodermolide and I would like to show some other many steps synthesees that are actualy used for making drugs.
So far I have
a) Fomivirsen - 63steps but since its oligonucleotide therefore the steps are just protection/deprotection/coupling, nothing really interesting here
b) Eribulin - the first generation synthesis by Kishi and Eisai RnD team62 steps, the process synthesis is probably bit different number

Is there anything that is even close in number of steps to those two? Discodermolide is 39..

thanks
