Americium dioxide from chloride/nitrate solution
« on: March 16, 2007, 06:07:14 PM »
Hi!

I need to make an Americium-Beryllium neutron source as a part of my PhD, but can't find a supplier willing to sell me 1mCi of americium dioxide powder.
Since solutions of americium-241 chloride and nitrate are readily available - could someone tell me how I can convert AmCl3 (Am[NO3]3) into AmO2?

Thanks,
Igor
