« on: July 12, 2007, 03:03:33 PM »
I need help with some pre-lab stuff. Reaction mixture is 10mL 4 M acetone + 10mL 1 M HCl + 10mL 0.005 M I2 + 20mL H2O...I need to find the rate of the reaction afetr 300 secs...but first I am told I need to find the initial concentration of I2...(I2)0...any ideas? Thanks  ::)

Because it is the initial rate, no reaction has taken place. This is just the definition of concentration. Mol's per liter. How many moles of I2 is there, and what is the total volume of the solvent(s)?
