Solubility of cross linking polymers
« on: October 10, 2007, 07:44:47 PM »
Q: Is polyacrylamide soluble in water? Acetone? Ethyl Acetate?

Because of the cross-linking, the polyacrylamide is less soluble because the molecular weight is increased, so I would think that it isn't soluble in any of these solvents, but I have read that it is soluble in water, so maybe the solubility also depends on the solvent being organic???

Generally such polymers are much less soluble in common organic solvents like acetone or EtOAc... Check the solubility in DMF or DMSO, I would suggest.
