Can someone help me with this question?
« on: December 09, 2007, 10:03:11 PM »
A buffer solution is 1.20 M in HF and 1.20 M in NaF. If 0.200 moles of NaOH are added to 1.00 L of the buffer, what is its pH? Assume the volume remains constant. Ka of HF = 7.2 x10-4. THANKS

Did you attempt the problem?  What do you need for pH calculations?  How do buffers work?  Think [H+] concentration?  What effect does NaF and what does NaOH do?

No, I haven't really attempted it because once I find the pH of the buffer I don't know where to go from there.

What happens when you add strong base to weak acid (HF) solution?
