What is the chemical formula for Sulphur Hydroxide?
« on: March 25, 2005, 03:28:10 AM »
Please?

I have absolutely no idea. Searching on the Web only returns sulphur hydroxide[/color]  in the name form, not the chemical formula.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

What you may find are either pages/sites with separately used words 'sulphur' and 'hydroxide' (like in "sulphur and potassium hydroxide') or 'sulphur hydroxide' name used by some chemical llama instead of hydrogen sulfide.

Sulphur hydroxide does not exists. There is a compound H2SO2 (formally S(OH)2), but it is an unstable acid known only as diluted orange-yellow water solution. This acid is called hyposulphurous acid.
