simple CIP stereocenter configuration question

when determining R/S at stereocenter, if you had a amine group (directly attached) and a amide group attached for example, am i right in saying that amine takes priority as nitrogen is higher atomic number + is directly attached whereas amide group begins with carbon (lower atomic number than nitrogen).

Yes, the amine would take precedence over the amide.

EDIT:  I wanted to add, yes, the amine takes precedence for the reason you state.  The nitrogen > than the amide carbon.
