Carbon tetrachloride
« on: October 31, 2008, 10:47:20 AM »
i was just wondering if anyone... more then likely some one has, has attempted carbon tetrachloride from chloroform at home ...

I just have a few questions... First what wave length is best for splitting the Chlorine into the radicals... I believe Blue light is used for The H2 and CL2 gas demonstration..would that apply here as well or am i not seeing something

Secondly i was wondering what would be the expected yield of carbon tet... im hoping/ thinking it would be the major product... but i can see many..many other products forming but they seem unlikely to form in large amounts...does it depend largely on how long i let the radical mechanism propagate...?

thanks

Mina
