Sodium chlorites and chlorides

What happens when sodium chlorite is heated? What about sodium chloride? How each of them would react with alkali metal and iodine compund (*I, when * is alkali metal)? ???

I have searched everywhere I could but I haven't found anything good.

The only reaction I found was
4NaClO + KI + H2O --> Na + I2 + O2 + KCl
However, I don't know if it's correct. And I really really need to know reactions with NaClO2. I would apppreaciate any help  :( :'(

It really depends how much you heat them, this applies to any substance, and what you're looking for.  I'd suspect that chlorite would decompose on moderate heating, but you can melt NaCl, or even vaporize it, if you got it hot enough.  You probably don't want to go that far, but how far?  I just don't know.

OK.  I want to know where you found that one, I wouldn't expect free sodium metal was that easy to make.

Well, it should be thermolysis of these compounds. I don't know the exact temperature but I assume the idea is to get something vaporize out of these compounds. Well, something like 2LiOH  :rarrow: Li2O + H2O , just in that case the products and temperature are different.

Well, I didn't expect it to be correct either. I found it somewhere on the web, as far as I remember, it was just someones assumption and I wrote it here because it was the best thing I found! :(

NaClO2:           [ClO2]-  + 4J-   +  4 H+   ----->   Cl-  +  4H2O  + 2J2
