Is it possible???
« on: April 21, 2009, 11:03:29 PM »
Is it possible that we would be able to make a chemical reaction where chemicals that combust creates another chemical that combusts then somehow fueling itself, I'm not saying with a 100% efficiency just that  maybe more efficient then just burning one substance... i was hoping maybe for a good answer and i asked my chemistry teacher and he started to think about it saying its quite possible, and i was hoping for an elaboration.  :-\

I'd say it's not possible to use that mechanism to get more efficiency than is available in a single step.  If your first step releases 100 kJ/mol and your second step releases 25 kJ/mol, going through that whole process should also liberate an equivalent amount of energy.
