Net ionic equations and spectator ions??
« on: May 28, 2009, 11:03:31 PM »
I have no idea how to do any of this, and it is due tomorrow, I have emailed my professor, and tried but I can't figure it out??

Reaction of I2 with SO2:

Is the equation SO2 +I2 ---> I2O2+S??

What is the oxidized product?
What are the spectator ions?
What is the balanced net ionic equation?

Reaction of K2CrO4 with SO2:

What is the oxidized product?
What are the spectator ions?
What is the balanced net ionic equation?

Reaction of KClO3 with SO2:

What is the oxidized product?
What are the spectator ions?
What is the balanced net ionic equation?

Reaction of I2 with SO2:
unbalanced
I2 + SO2 + H2O = H2SO4 + HI

Reaction of K2CrO4 with SO2:
Acid - H2SO4 should be used on the left side

In all three cases SO2 gets oxidized.
