Arrhenius
« on: July 31, 2009, 01:32:10 AM »
An unusual atmospheric reaction leading to ozone distruction is CF3O + O3 → CF3O2 + O2

Arrhenius frequency factor (A) 2.0 × 10–12 cm3 • molecule–1 • s–1

and activation energy of and 11.6 kJ/mol

 Calculate the rate constant for this reaction at an altitude of 35 km, where the temperature is –34°C.

   Answer
ln K = ln A -   Ea / RT
        = ln ( 2.0 x 10 -12 )  -  ( 11600 J/mol / 8.314 . 239 K )
       = 28.32  -   5.84
       = 22.4
k= 5.7 x 10 ^9

but this is wrong answer

where is mistake in above steps

Let's calculate again: ln(2.0 x 10-12)
