How to separate my water-soluble ligand from LiOH
« on: July 31, 2009, 04:26:10 PM »
Hi all, I have a question. After my reaction done and solvent removed, I have a my ligand, LiOH, 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde in the flask.

1. How can I separate my ligand out from LiOH and 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde???
My ligand is soluble in H2O, CH2Cl2, THF, MeOH
2. If I use saturated brine solution to do extraction, the LiOH solubility in H2O will be decreased??

Please help me....

Can't you just do an extraction with an organic solvent, like CH2Cl2? LiOH should remain in the aqueous phase.
