tri-amine or not?
« on: September 21, 2009, 09:37:16 PM »
Hey guys, a simple compound question has been bugging me,
What is the name of the functional group for the side chain of arginine (the three amine carbon is what I'm thinking the question is asking?)

So anyone know what the nomenclature for this functional group this is?  I've typed in every type of 'amine' I can think of, and it's a no-go

I think the functional group is guanidine (which is the name of H2NC(NH)NH2)
My research: Google Scholar and Researchgate

it's protonated.  Technically a guanidinium.
