Questions about Molar Mass
« on: January 02, 2010, 10:16:19 AM »
Okay, I've done molar mass before but I have a lab that I'm doing on Formulas of Hydrates and I was wondering how to find the molar mass of Magnesium Sulfate [Mg(SO4).7H20] without the water and with it.  I'm guessing that this will help me calculate the % of water from the hydrate.

yeah, I'm not sure what to do, I do not need the answer, just the way to calculate molar mass.

Molar mass of MgSO4?

Molar mass of H2O?

Molar mass of substance that contains seven molecules of water per each molecule of MgSO4?

well I will worry about the the MgSo4 first, do you do the mass of magnesium x 6.02x10^23 first?
