Oxidation State of Nitrogen
«
on:
June 12, 2011, 11:34:14 PM »
One mole of N
2
H
4
loses 10 moles of electrons to form a new compound 'Y'. Assuming all N
2
appears in the new compound, what is the oxidation state of nitrogen in the new compound?
Please help me to solve this. Thanks.

calculate oxidation number of N in N2H4
If only N2H4 loses 10 electrons , oxidation state of each N should increase by 5
