identification of cis & trans isomers on tlc plate !!!

i don`t know exactly  how can i differentiate between cis & trans isomers on Tlc plates , i have read some comments about impregnated Ag NO3 stationary phase but  not sure how to use it !  ???

You can't tell which is which by TLC, you'll need more sophisticated analytical methods.  Separate the spots by column and do an NMR on each one, that should do it.  In some cases though, cis/trans isomers don't separate on TLC and may require an alternate solution.

This is a gross over-generalization, but if you're talking strictly about alkene isomers, more often than not the cis isomer will run slower than the trans.
