Help needed - Phenoxybenzamine
« on: February 08, 2012, 08:36:14 AM »
Hi friends,

I'm a medicine student after a big pharmacology exam. I need some help to prove that the answer i picked is correct, any help will be appredciated. The answer i picked up states:

Phenoxybenzamine gives electrophilic product. (nothing specific about the reaction, although i guess my professor meant to the product of its covalent bond to the alpha adrenergic receptor).

I need some good references or explanations to prove my answer is correct, with as much detailes as you can provide. thank you all.

Cannot be identified as correct or incorrect without the context of the question.

The question is only the word "phenoxybenzamine:", followed by four statements, with no connection between them. I only need to prove that there's an electrophillic product or maybe even intermediate electrophillic product to phenoxybenzamine in order to get the points.

Thank you anyway, it's really important.

It might help if you show all the options, but as it stands this is like saying:

A piece of string is....

A. Long
B. Short
C. Useful
D. Red

Ok, the other options are:

1. Bind to dopaminergic receptors.
2. Increase the efficacy of norepinephrine.
3. Cleared by glucoronosyltransferase.
4. Inhibit the amine carrier.
