Light and Energy
« on: February 18, 2012, 01:12:17 AM »
Please anyone know how to solve this:
a)A hydrogen atom has an electron in the n=9 state. What is the wavelength (in nm) of the photon that will be emitted as it fall to the n=3 state.
b)A hydrogen atom in its ground state absorbs a 95.0 nm photon.  What is the n value of its new state?  (Give an integer only!)

What is the expression for the energy of level n?

What equation relates photon energy to wavelength?
