paint identification
« on: June 06, 2012, 05:02:38 PM »
Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me with figuring out what the common name for "urethane modified methacrylate polymer" would be. In this case it is referring to analysis of a paint sample. Could it be "acrylic urethane paint" or "urethane modified acrylic paint", commonly used as an auto paint?

Also, I know that urethane and polyurethane are different in that "poly" indicates many. If a chemical analysis indicates simply "urethane" as opposed to "polyurethane" is this indicating a specific difference or is it standard to simplify and just say "urethane" either way? I have a similar question about the difference between "PVA (polyvinyl acetate)" and simply "vinyl acetate".

Thank you for your time.
