How is gold chloride synthesized? Exact measurements are very much appreciated.

Is the a "how is" or "how to" question?

If it's a how to I'm sure if you took a suspension of gold flakes in water and then bubbled chlorine gas through it, that would yield Gold Chloride. It works with other things.

A more practical method of making "gold chloride" is to add gold to aqua regia, a 1 : 3 molar ratio mix of concentrated nitric acid and hydrochloric acid.

The commercial material usually is not true gold chloride, AuCl3, but tetrachlorauric acid, HAuCl4.3H2O, which, when dissolved in water, gives H(+) ions and AuCl4(-) ions. The latter also is obtained, when gold metal is dissolved in aqua regia.

I've obtained gold chloride by placing gold flakes in a vial, then added Hydrochloric Acid and Bleach (Peroxide can be used instead). Do it outside, however. Chlorine gas isproduced. You don't need to mix but a small amount.
