Convenient preparation of allyl bromide
« on: December 27, 2005, 02:12:21 PM »
Hi all,

I encounter trouble in preparing allyl bromide (Deuterium-labelled). My starting material is d-labelled alcohol. Since b.p. of allyl bromide and diethyl ether is 70 oC and 35 oC respectively, I worried about a significant loss upon fractional distillation. Is this a good approach to make my allyl bromide? Any other suggestions? I hope some of you could give me some suggestions in my situation.

i am curious. assuming that youre distlling your product mixture reasonably slowly, isnt 35 degrees a good enough temperature difference at such low temperatures?
i remain, always,
