Question about the preparation of a methylene blue solution
« on: September 18, 2013, 10:45:22 AM »
Hello,

I have to prepare a methylene blue solution, with 5% acetic acid.

I'll use it to measure how much MB is adsorbed by activated carbon.

My question is: what's the acetic acid for? why not dissolve the methylene blue in just distilled water?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, I'm a student of chemical engineering.

Thanks.

Solubility is better in acidic conditions.
