Calculating moles of water formed

Okay, I have to calculate moles of water formed in this calorimtery exp. and I am having a tough time.

First off, 50mL of 1.0M HCl and 50.0Ml of 1.0M NaOH seperatley(they are the reactant), and then mixed together to form NaCl and H20.

I have an equation to calculate moles of H20-    heat of reaction= total heat produced/moles of H20 formed

I found that the total heat produced was 3485J, Now how do I find the heat of reaction?

Start from writing down a balanced reaction.
Then calculate moles of both compounds in solutions.
And think. The rest is evident.

OKay, so if the balanced equation is HCl + NaOH ---> NaCl + H20

Then that means if I start out with 50mL of each reactant, I get 50mL of each product, and with the density of water being 1g/mL, I have 50g H20, converting that to moles I get 2.8moles of H20. Is this correct?

that balanced equation is a mole ratio, not a volume ratio
one learns best by teaching

Calculate moles of HCl and NaOH, not H2O
