Need help regarding XRD analysis
I analyzed a sample by XRD that contained Calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate.
The XRD report showed that the sample contains calcium carbonate (major) and thallium gallium germanium sulfide (instead of magnesium carbonate).
Now I am wondering why the magnesium carbonate was shown as thallium gallium germanium sulfide.
Magnesium carbonate was not natural, it was synthetic (precipitated). Is it possible that the synthetic magnesium carbonate matched the crystal lattice of thallium gallium germanium sulfide, and that the reason for this result?
Any suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks
