This is going to be a difficult question to answer.  Every lab has different terms to call the various functions a person can perform.  In my time, I've been a Scientist, QA Chemist, QC Chemist I (that company had grades II and III in the same positions,) or simply a QC Chemist.  I started as a lab technician, then became a Junior Scientist, and some places I've seen want to consider the work I do now as Chemist Technician work.  So it will be hard to get a definitive answer for you.

Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.
