How memorize the nomenclature?

I'd like to know how u guys memorize the nomenclature of compounds? And if you memorize them?

Understand how it works, because it pretty much repeats itself with minor changes. And then practice.

Well there is set of rules which allows to name any structure you wish in a way that every other chemist will understand.

If you are being asked to learn a lot of nomenclature for different functional groups, definitely a good starting point would be to remember functional group priority. Also learn the different ways functional groups are named if they are the parent structure vs a substituent tacked onto the parent structure. This is arbitrary and there is no logic.

This is a good place to start to learn the arbitrary nomenclature, once you have the basics you are much better able to follow the more complex systems.
