Cyclopropenone: Aromatic or Not?
« on: October 17, 2014, 07:50:37 AM »
I think the following statement is false, but I wasn't so sure.

"Cyclopropenone is quite stable in spite of its large ring strain because it is aromatic."

-Is a molecule such as cyclopropenone called an aromatic compound if its charge-separated form is aromatic?

Thanks

I would say yes, if the C=O is polarised to +C-O- like here
