Hybridization
« on: December 26, 2014, 09:43:44 PM »
Brushing up on my Gen Chem for Organic, ran across this problem:

What is the hybridization of the central Atom of COF2?
With Carbon being the central atom, I get an sp2 hybridized orbital
Just for kicks, with Oxygen being the central atom, I get sp3 hybridized orbital

Am I correct here??

The book solution is sp...

Thanks!!!

In Flourine hosgen COF2 carbon either oxygen are sp2 and the flourines are sp3 hybridiziest.
