Hi Everyone,

Just had a question on the order of processing spectral data. Thus far I've collected a dozen or so spectra for a sample and my question is what is the order that is typically used to pre-process it.

Do I average all the spectra first, then normalize, then baseline correct? or baseline correct first, then average, then normalize? or ?

Im using OMNIC software on our ATR-FTIR, but also using a free IR processing software called Speckwin32 (http://www.effemm2.de/spekwin/index_en.html).

Anyone have any step by step references I can look into.

Thanks

It may depend on what you are doing, but in general you will want to baseline it first, then average. Normalization will depend on what you're normalizing to.
