Stratification of Gases in a Horizontal Tubular Reactor

When I start up my reactor, I purge out all the O2 with N2 then I shoot in H2. Will the H2 successfully purge out all the N2? I might just be paranoid, but I have a feeling that a little bit of N2 is hanging out at the bottom of the tube even though my H2 sensor is reading 100%.

I.D. is 4"
P>1 atm
no internals

Wow. That's seems like a large reactor. Is it pilot scale? How long?

Is it packed? What are the internals?

Stratifications sounds unlikely so long as you've waited for a bit & flowrates are decently large.

no internals
I'm shooting in 50 SLPM H2 to get rid of the N2
