Synthesis of a compound

hi guys

On Monday I am about to synthesize my very first compound. Pls help ! It's : (E)-ß-Tosylstyrol

I have problems with understanding the instruction.

According to my instruction I am supposed to use : 10 mL of a 1 N Methanolic KOH

and 100 mL of a 1 N sodium disulphite solution. How am I supposed to create this solution ?? Solve 19 g sodium disulphite in water or what the hell?

Pls help
There might be some language misunderstandings - I'm from Germany

Normality (N) depends on the equivalence factor of the reaction, which you can only determine if you know what the reaction is.

So, what is the reaction?
