Daniell Cell, Why sulfate ion does not bond with Zinc

Greetings,

In Daniell Cell where Zn | ZnSO4(aq) || CuSO4(aq) | Cu configuration is used, Zinc is oxidized, dissociated and hydrated in to solution. However I wonder why SO4 ion does not get bonded with Zinc at the electrode interface? I guess it has to do something with reduction potential or something related electron affinity. Or is it because its a soluble salt? But in that case, would that mean that water through out wan der waals or hydrogen/OH- bonds are keeping SO4 ion so tightly?

The reason I'm wondering this is when I look at non-soluble salt electrodes (e.g. AgCl), where Cl- gets attached to Ag(s).

Solubility is here the only reason why things work the way they do.
