Organic Chemistry Functional Groups?

I have  a dilemma about functional groups. I am not sure if those are most of the common functional groups or not. The textbook is not very clear and my prof didn't go over all of them. And I am supposed to know them  :( . So here are the ones that I know and the book states them. But for two of them is unclear.
  Alkane
  Alkene
  Alkyne
  Aromatic
  Haloalkane
  Alcohol
  Phenol
  Ether
  Phenyl and Benzyl (unsure, the textbook is confusing on these two)
  Amine
  Aldehyde
  Ketone
  Carboxylic acid
  Ester
  Amide
  Nitrile

Are those right? Can someone please help me. If i am missing something or have extra please let me know.

This are not functionel groups

Alkane,  Alkene,  Alkyne,  Aromatic,  Haloalkane,
Phenyl C6H5- and Benzyl C6H5-CH2-

These containing functional groups:

Alcohol,  Phenol,  Ether,

These are functional groups: Amine,  Aldehyde,  Ketone,  Carboxylic acid,  Ester,  Amide,  Nitrile

A funstional group is Hydroxyl -OH (Alcolohls, phenols)
oxo -O- (Ether)
Amin -NH2
Aldehyde -CHO
Carboxyl -COOH
Ester -COO-
Amide -N-CO-
Nitril -CN

Phenyl and benzyl (and phenol) confused me too, at the start.

If you take a benzene ring and attach it to any arbitrary "R" group, the attached benzene ring is referred to as phenyl.

Now, picture a benzene ring attached to a chain or group via a secondary carbon: the benzene ring and the secondary carbon atom it is attached to are referred to collectively as benzyl.
