Meaning of "pool"
« on: June 10, 2015, 05:52:03 AM »
First of all excuse my English , I'm Spanish.

I have been studying oil refining (a basic level, aerospace engineering). Well, the thing is that in the areas of fuels (gasoline, diesel and kerosene) refer constantly to the pool of gasoline and gas oils , and fail to understand what the pool means.

Thank you very much .

Generally it means some kind of reservoir, reserve or stock - usually of a liquid, but the usage of "pool" can be more conceptual than literal. The precise meaning of "pool" can can change depending on the context. English is annoying like that.

Can you give an example of "pool" being used in a sentence you have read?

OK, in this case I take that to mean: reservoir/supply/stock
