Expectation value , <x+y> for particle in a 2D box?

What does <x+y>  operator means? Do i have to calculate the average values for both x and y coordinates and add em up ? Or double integrate the wave function (2D) by x and y? Like we do for energy? Thanks.

Well, does it make sense that <x+y> is the same as <x>+<y>?
You should be able to show this fairly simply.  What is the definition of the expectation value for an operator?
