stability of Ag+ and Cu+ in water

why is that Ag+ is more stable than Cu+ in water both have d‹10  configuration..
and in a water solution why we have only Cu2+ and not Ag2+

Ag2+ is actually strong enough to oxidize water to oxygen. This is why, without a suitable ligand, it is usually not stable in water.
