O-methylation of keto-enol compound
« on: August 02, 2015, 11:18:31 AM »
Hi guys

I need some help regarding my work. My starting material is in keto-enol form (as per attached). NMR showed it was in keto form when it is dissolved in CDCl3 and enol form in DMSO.

I need to proceed the O-methylation. Unfortunately the C-methylation was formed.

Any suggestion guys?

Try a different methylating agent, dimethylsulfate or diazomethane for example
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!
