synthesis of n-acetyl cysteine amide

I'm interested in synthesizing n-acetyl cysteine amide.

Haven't been able to locate much information online on how to do it.

React n-acetyl cysteine with thionyl chloride and then with ammonia?

You can't buy it online, so I think you wanna make your own to consume.  You will hurt yourself.

I could buy it online but NAC is cheap and I think I could make NACA for much less than the online price. Aldrich has it for $95 for 5 mg!!! Either it's real hard to make, or they're putting an extreme markup.

Hi cisz, do you still need to produce N-Acetylcysteine amide NACA?
I know where to buy it for a good price.
Just curious, do you have succeeded to produce a safe NACA by yourself?
