Inorganic reactions questions
« on: October 04, 2015, 07:09:20 AM »
66,

In a vessel (V = 1 dm3 ) we have 60% vol of Cl2 and 40% vol of H2. What will be the volume of the developing HCl?
I tried calculating the vol. of H2 and Cl2:
100cm3 -> 60 cm3
1000cm3 -> 600 cm3
same for Cl2 and that's 400 cm3
added 400 + 600 together = 1000 cm3 but in the equation H2 + Cl2 = 2HCL so i had to multiply 1000cm3 by 2 and i got 2000 cm3, however the answer says it's 800 cm3 . how am i supposed to do this???

67,

To get 1 ton of Bromide out of a certain compound that contains bromide too, we need to use 0.6 tons of Chlorine. By what per cent is it more than the equation of the reaction shows?

I believe the equation is Br2 + Cl2 -> 2BrCl

And from here i have no idea what to do...

You have to check how much chlorine with the amount of hydrogen can be converted to hydrochloric , how much will be left.
