Rearrangements!
« on: October 08, 2015, 12:03:28 PM »
Hi all,

I have been asked to find the major product of the following reaction:

And the product I need to write should be the saturated one so clearly, the result of an SN1 reaction. The only issue I'm having now is determining if a rearrangement will take place. Note that my conjugated base is quite large so sterically hindered?...

I would appreciate all thoughts and suggestions!

*Sorry if any of the phrasing I use isn't 100% accurate - I am not studying O.Chem in English so I'm just trying my best :)
