I heard that refluxing MUST have an inactive gas supply.
What if I don't?
Is it just about the yield or etc?

This is not an absolute requirement, it instead depends on the reaction.  Without it, oxygen, or moisture may leak in, before refluxing goes strong, and even during.  If the reactants are sensitive, they may be consumed, or produce side reactions, or fail completely.

What is your reaction, and how is it supposed to be set up, and why?  These sorts of concepts are your responsibility, before you start a reaction in the university organic lab, or industrial production laboratory.

Please trouble yourself to read the Forum Rules{click}, if you're still learning, we're glad to help. But if you want to do something at home, with minimal preparation, we don't want to give you "just enough" info, to let you hurt yourself.

p.s. is grignard reaction okay?

my chem teacher doesnt believe web materials. so could you let me know which book has the article?

It became certain that i have to demonstrate a grignard reaction(actually, a organozinc halide formation and carboxylation) with teachers and teamates.
the problem is, since my school doesn't have a complete reflux arrangements, my team has to construct one.
So, is reflux TRUELY essential for grignard reaction?
I am waiting for your brilliant answers!!

Well I know it is just for re-using the solvent and making reaction temperature constantly, but what i want to ask is whether INACTIVE mood refluxing is MUST.

Well, everything you need for reflux is flash and leibig condenser. Anyway, it might depend on the structure of grignard reagent and the aldehyde/ketone you are using
