Distilled water from boiling water from NaCl solution
« on: April 26, 2016, 06:30:19 PM »
Is the water obtained from boiling the water from a solution of something like KCl or NaCl (or nitrates, chlorates, sulfates) and condensing pure enough to be used as distilled water?  Does any of the dissolved material carry over?

Briefly, no.  As an example, the store bought distilled water still has detectable ionic components that may adversely affect an experiment.  Usually, laboratory grade water is subjected to an ion exchange process after being quickly "flash-distilled."
